Stephen Cornwell, born in 1980 in Houston, Texas, is a visual artist living in Proctor, Vermont. Working primarily in oil, acrylic, watercolor, ink, and pencil, he is known for his expressive figurative studies and landscape paintings. His work often explores the relationship between the human condition and nature, with a recent focus on abstract landscapes that reflect the earth in transformation.

Cornwell’s work has been exhibited at a range of notable venues, including the Akus Gallery, Hiden Galleries, Bruce S. Kershner Gallery, CT Art Gallery, and Unity of Balance Studios. His pieces are held in private collections and are recognized for their emotional depth and dynamic compositions.

In addition to his studio practice, Cornwell is actively involved in the regional arts community. He has served as Vice President of the Eastern Connecticut Visual Art Club and participated in events and exhibitions with the Windham Area Arts Collaborative, Middletown CT Art Guild, and CT Art Gallery’s Bergen House. He is also the founder of UnityofBalance.com a virtual gallery space.
